The following events are planned for the week ahead throughout the region:

• Celebrate Mother’s Day with train excursions on the Colebrookdale Railroad, Boyertown. Brunch trains depart Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. Tea trains depart Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. And a dinner train departs Saturday at 5 p.m. For details and ticket options, visit colebrookdalerailroad.com.

• Elmwood Park Zoo, Norristown, will offer its annual Mother’s Day brunches on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday is sold out, but tickets are still available for Saturday, with seatings at 10 and 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tickets include admission to the Zoo, the all-you-can-eat brunch and an animal meet and greet. • The Colonial Theatre, Phoenixville, presents An Evening With Joe Bob Briggs: How Rednecks Saved Hollywood on Saturday at 7 p.m. Briggs is a nationally syndicated “drive-in movie critic” whose wisecracking take on B-movies was featured on long-running late-night television shows on The Movie Channel and then on TNT. Briggs will be using over 200 movie clips and stills to review the history of rednecks in America as told through the classics of both grindhouse and mainstream movie genres. • The Keswick Theatre, Glenside, presents One Night With Nikki Glaser on Saturday at 7 p.m. Glaser is the star of the new E! reality series “Welcome Home Nikki Glaser,” for which she left her fast-paced Hollywood lifestyle to return to her hometown of St. Louis to embark on a hilarious and often uncomfortable journey of self-discovery. For over a decade, Glaser has been honing her shockingly honest, no-holds barred style of comedy at clubs across the country. In March 2021, she launched “The Nikki Glaser Podcast.” Tickets start at $39.75 at keswicktheatre.com. On Sunday at 8 p.m., the Keswick presents Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Beth Hart, with opener Quinn Sullivan.

• Act II Playhouse, Ambler, is staging the musical comedy “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” through June 5. The show pays tribute to those who have ever failed at love and to those who refuse to fail. It is presented in the form of a series of vignettes connected by the central theme of love and relationships, and has the tagline, “Everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit.” For showtimes and ticket information, visit act2.org.

• The Jurassic Quest herd of photorealistic dinosaurs is taking over the Oxford Valley Mall, Langhorne, for a two-weekend engagement, from Friday through May 15. Dinosaur fans will have the chance to experience Jurassic Quest’s most beloved and unique indoor experiences for the whole family, including life-like moving and roaring dinosaurs, dinosaur-themed rides and attractions, live dinosaur shows, interactive science and art activities including a giant fossil dig, real fossils, “The Quest” scavenger hunt, a “Triceratots” soft play area, photo opportunities and more. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and next Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 13-14 and noon to 6 p.m. May 15. • Singer-songwriter Josh Ritter brings his solo acoustic tour to the Miller Center for the Arts at Reading Area Community College on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Known for his sharp wit and expressive lyrics, Ritter has built a loyal following since emerging on the scene in 2000 with his self-titled debut album. His most recent album, 2019’s “Fever Breaks,” pushes the boundaries of folk and Americana music. Ritter said he wanted the shows on this tour to be in places that will allow him to sing some of the stranger, quieter, more narrative songs that he may not always get to at a rock show. “I want the venues to be special and beautiful, I want laughter and music and stories that are true even if they’re unreal,” he said. • Pottsgrove Manor will host its annual Colonial Mayfair on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Gather with friends and family around the Maypole, with its rainbow ribbons, and see if you can learn the steps of dancing from long ago. The day will include historic trade demonstrations, performances of traditional music, laugh-out-loud colonial puppet shows and the famed Benjamin Franklin’s science experiments will delight every member of the family. Free visitor parking is available at Pottstown Memorial Park, 75 W. King St., with a complimentary shuttle service to Pottsgrove Manor. The event is rain or shine.

• Historic Yellow Springs, Chester Springs, hosts Art Around the Village on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring 17 of the 2022 Yellow Springs Art Show artists painting En Plein Air around the village. In addition, a pottery and an alcohol ink demonstration will be held in front of the Chester Springs Studio, where a kids’ and teen exhibit will be inside the studio. A “History Walk” down Art School Road begins at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. There will be live music on the Lincoln porch from Chris Lebresco, a Mother’s Day basket raffle, and the Le Garage Winery and Birchrunhill Farms Cheese will have their pop-up wine and cheese shop in the village. • The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen presents its Spring Craft Show on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Renninger’s Farmer’s Market, 740 Noble St., Kutztown. Under the pavilion, in the juried artists and craftsmen’s shops, you will find handmade glass, pottery, rug hooking, hand woven rugs, fiber art, wood turnings, calligraphy, polymer clay birds, fork art and folk art wood carvings, jewelry, fabric accessories, fraktur, furniture, found wood, metal work, photography, chalk ware, watercolor paintings, wheat weaving, baskets, wood working and botanical pressed flowers. • The Friends of Chamber Music of Reading presents the Brentano String Quartet in concert on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the WCR Center for the Arts, Reading. The program will include string quartets by Gesualdo, Haydn and Dvořák. Since its inception in 1992, the Brentano String Quartet has received many prestigious awards, including the first Cleveland Quartet Award, the Naumburg Chamber Music Award and the United Kingdom’s Royal Philharmonic Award for Most Outstanding Debut. The quartet has traveled the world performing traditional quartet repertoire as well as newly commissioned pieces in renowned concert halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Admission for Saturday’s concert is free. • Humane Pennsylvania is hosting its 45th annual Performance Toyota Walk for the Animals on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jim Dietrich Park, Muhlenberg Township. The event will include various local food trucks, a VIP beer and wine garden, over 40 vendors and doggy contests. All funds raised go directly toward lifesaving resources for animals in the organization’s care and throughout the community. Humane Pennsylvania’s Walk for the Animals is the oldest and largest animal welfare event in the region. The event attracts thousands of participants annually. • Red Horse Motoring Club presents its first Pottstown Nights Car Show of the season on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. on High Street. It is open to all cars, trucks and motorcycles, with no entry fees. In conjunction with the car show, Rivet Canteen & Assembly, 238 E. High St., will present a night of free music on its outdoor stage featuring Dustin Douglas & The Electric Gentlemen, Mighty Joe Castro & The Gravamen and Milou Sky. In case of inclement weather, the music is moved inside Rivet.

• SoulJoel’s Comedy Club presents Aunt Mary Pat on Friday at 8 p.m. at its pop-up location at the Westover Golf Club, Jeffersonville. Aunt Mary Pat first came onto the scene in early 2018 through a viral video after the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl win. Since then, she has performed more than 100 shows. In early 2019, after a successful Kickstarter campaign, she released her debut comedy album, “Talk of the Township.” It hit No. 5 on the iTunes comedy charts. She has been recognized as Delaware’s Readers’ Choice best entertainer 2019 and Best of Delco’s 2019 best comedian. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $30 for VIP at souljoels.com.
